Web Search Strategies

This video introduces the best ways to use search engines to find information on the Web. It uses real-world examples that illustrate ways to reduce useless results and includes:
  • How search engines work
  • Picking the right key words
  • Using quotes and the minus sign
  • Combinations of strategies

Tips
1) Be specific. 
2) Know basic shortcuts - for words that appear together, like a phrase or a quote, put quotes around the words. 
3) For words with multiple meanings - place a hyphen or minus sign just before the word you want to exclude.

  • Be creative . . . what is the best way to connect with your audience?
  • 6 slides minimum.... You may do more. 
  • You may work with a partner.
