OMSI's Game Master Exhibit & Upcoming GameCon!

Across arcades, consoles, PC and mobile platforms, Game Masters: The Exhibition showcases the work of over 30 game designers, from Nintendo's iconic character-led worlds featuring Mario and Link, to the immersive worlds of Blizzard Entertainment, the musical notes of Rock Band and the atmospheric narratives of Flower and Journey by thatgamecompany.

Join Game Lab Oregon for a weekend of table top game play at GameCon hosted by OMSI. Meet local game designers, publishers and artists and come playtest the newest, unpublished games. Games range from adventure board games to dice games to card games.

If you’re thinking about designing your first game, or just want to learn more about how games get from idea to the store shelf, this event is for you! Game testers will have a chance to win fun prizes.

Our Staff Appreciation Team Project

In light of Boston, Texas and the general bleakness in the news, it was exciting to have something positive to look forward to this morning!

We partnered with Starbucks for our first random act of kindness. The place, Multnomah Village.

Early risers got treated to their coffee this morning. It was so much fun to be a fly on the wall and observe peoples' reactions! We are looking forward to more chances to shine, and bless others in our community!

If you are interested in joining us on our quest visit . . .

. . . for more information. Shine on!

Sploder - Online Game Software

Sploder™ is online game software that allows people to create cool games and publish them on the web. Sploder™ even allows you to easily put Flash games on your site without having to learn Flash.

Make Your Own Games, Online
Sploder™ is a fun game-making toy that allows you to design and publish your own games. Games are published online so everyone can see them, play them, vote, and post comments on them.

Add Flash to Your Web Site

Games created in Sploder™ are 100% Flash — a plugin that is on 98% of all computers on the internet. That means you don't need any special software to view fluid-motion, dynamic games, and neither do your friends or family. You can even download your games and post them on your own commercial web site.

Privacy Options

You can publish your game privately and e-mail the link to only your closest friends, or just keep it to yourself. Sploder is a Neurofuzzy production.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Can-Do Robots

Can-Do Robots

Total Time Needed:
2-3 Hours
These friendly robots are more than just good-looking; magnets hold their features in place, making the 'bots the metallic equivalent of a Mr. Potato Head.

Materials
  • Tin can
  • Electrical tape (optional)
  • Hardware, and various recyclables such as bottle caps, keys, etc.
  • Hot-glue gun
  • Strong disk magnets
Instructions
1.     Open a tin can with a safety can opener so there are no sharp edges. (If you only have a regular opener, line the inside of the can's rim with electrical tape.)

2.     Empty, wash, and dry the can.

3.     For facial features, arms, propulsion devices, and communication arrays, look for items around the house and at the hardware store. We used bolts, brackets, hinges, keys, wing nuts, switches, bottle caps, washers, knobs, and more.

4.     Hot-glue the items to strong disk magnets.

5.     Be creative, be safe and have fun!
